faithfulness copy-1This past Tuesday was truly an amazing day! The Amazing Race has begun for us and each day has a theme as we spell out the word BRANCH – Friday was Build; Monday, Restore; Tuesday, Agape (love).  Love was much in evidence as we worked at a horse ranch for kids with special needs, then rested a bit, washed off the dirt and spent the afternoon visiting our former cook Lillie Sullivan.

Our theme for this year’s Race is “Grafted In, Branching Out” and our Scripture verses are John 15: 5 and Galatians 5:22-23. It’s all about receiving our nourishment from Him so that we can grow and show fruit of the spirit.

Each of our P1000398 copy5 teams had to find Lillie, then visited a few minutes, and left her a piece of artificial fruit in a special bowl. By the time we left, she had a beautiful arrangement. Staff and Amazing Racers gathered around Lillie for a picture and even in that moment were able to show some special love to Lillie – a woman none of the residents had ever met. Lillie served Evangel Home faithfully for many years and this was one more way we could show our appreciation.

Pictures: Sophia had a special day and learned a lot about herself between her time with M&M, the horse, and her visit with Lillie.
