OVERVIEW
The Assistant Shelter Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the shelter, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all residents. This position involves working closely with the Shelter Manager to oversee and manage resident needs and implement programs of the home that promote well-being and stability. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a hospitable attitude toward all guests, staff, and volunteers
- Be a role model: Model the desired behaviors of the home in one’s actions. Encourage, praise, and offer clarifications and corrections as needed.
- Support guests in developing routines to maintain personal daily life tasks, coaching as needed.
- Support guests in developing routines to maintain the communal living environment, coaching as needed.
- Maintain the safety of the home environment and property
- Conduct intake interviews with documentation and provide orientation to new guests.
- Maintain guest files and keep medical records confidential and up to date.
- Answer telephones and doors with a welcoming and inviting attitude
REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature, Christian woman who actively participates in a local church and maintains a relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Team-oriented: Respectful and collaborative communication skills, flexibility, ability to request assistance when needed, and fill in where needed with a variety of functions
- Good interpersonal skills with children and adults.
- Ability to do housekeeping, heavy housework (floors, windows, ceilings, etc), and basic cooking skills
- Organizational abilities in an office setting
- Ability to conduct interviews
- Clerical skills, type 25 words a minute, knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google Suite a plus
- Experience working primarily in a residential/outpatient treatment setting
- Must be able to de-escalate situations that arise in the Shelter. Training is also provided and required.

- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for clerical duties and keyboarding.

- Acute hearing is necessary for telephone and in-person communication with staff, customers, and vendors.
